American Outdoor Brands Sees Growth in Grilla Grills

American Outdoor Brands reported their fiscal Q3 earnings yesterday, and missed on revenue and earnings. Beyond their poor financials performance they didn’t provide any updates on new products.

New Grilla Grills Products

We’ve been waiting for new Grilla Grills products for a while now. Originally, they said they would have new products last fall, with a major release in spring 2023. Then, in their Q2 earnings call they pushed that back saying the following.

GRILLA, WE’VE HAD A FEW PRODUCTS IN DEVELOPMENT BEGINNING REALLY JUST BEFORE THE ACQUISITION, AND I’D SAY THAT BECAUSE WE WERE LOOKING FOR A BRAND TO APPLY SOME OF THESE INNOVATIONS IN SOME OF THIS IP, AND IT WORKED OUT PERFECTLY WITH GRILLA. SO YOU’LL SEE SOME OF THOSE INNOVATIONS HERE IN THE NEXT FEW QUARTERS, PROBABLY THE NEXT QUARTER AND THEN GOING INTO THE SECOND.

While other brands like Traeger and Weber have released their new grills for the year, the “next quarter” has come and went with no Grilla Grills releases. There was no mention of it on the earnings call at all.

Spring is right around the corner, so hopefully we’ll get some new products soon. In the meantime, we wrote an article speculating what we might see.

Grill Grills Seeing Growth

American Outdoor Brands doesn’t release separate financial information for Grilla Grills. In the past, you could back into it, but this time on the earnings call they declined to break it out.

They did comment though that sales at Grilla Grills was up over last year. That’s good news for the brand, because sales last year were still being impacted by Covid.

So we mentioned direct-to-consumer was up, I think it was like 37% or so. Obviously, part of that number includes the acquisition of Grilla. So what I would tell you within that direct-to-consumer number, I don’t want to break it out, but our two direct-to-consumer only brands were up organically over last year.

The other DTC brand that American Outdoor Brands owns is MEAT!.
