If you want a brand new pellet grill with all the latest tech, what do you think you’re paying? $1,200? $1,500? Maybe more? Pit Boss says “not so fast” with their new Platinum 1250, sold exclusively at Walmart. At only $697, it resets the bar on what a pellet grill should cost.

Last week the Pit Boss Titan launched, which is one of their top of the line models. No doubt, if you want the most features on your grill, check that out. If you’re looking for a value play though, the smaller Platinum 1250 has 70% of the features at a significant discount.

Rack System

Pit Boss has been working on their cooking racks to make them a feature, rather than just a place to set your food. The Platinum 1250 has oven style pull out racks, so it’s easy to access your food no matter where it’s positioned on the rack. This let’s you maximize the cooking space.

Pit Boss Titan vs. Pit Boss Platinum 1250

Like I said at the start you get quite a few features of the Titan (retails for $1,299) on the Platinum, but for a much lower price. Below is a list of the differences.

Pit Boss Platinum 1250 Touchscreen Controller

  • Same touchscreen controller design, but the Titan can go 30° F lower according to its specs
  • No Variable Smoke Technology is listed on the Platinum, which allows you to control smoke levels
  • This is preference, but the Titan has a higher end look to it, and it has a storage cabinet
  • The cook chamber lid on the Titan is double walled for better heat retention
  • The Titan is bigger with 377 square inches more cooking area
  • The Titan has a stainless steel cooking grate system compared to porcelain coated cast iron on the Platinum
  • No pellet hopper divider on the Platinum

While those are some nice additional features on the Titan, the value priced Platinum 1250 offers many key features on a budget.
