It’s the last weekend before Memorial Day weekend, which means it’s time to get the grill ready and start planning for next weekend. If you’re going to be in Austin, be sure to check out Hot Luck from May 25th – 28th. It’s a food and music festival featuring some great BBQ. Plus, it benefits the Southern Smoke Foundation which is a non-profit that provides help to food and beverage workers.

Hopefully Memorial Day weekend grill sales will recover this year. The Home Depot reported earnings this week and talked about continued softness in the category and a price sensitive, more cautious consumer. Much like grill manufacturers mentioned previously, the extreme weather out west in Q1 also has negatively impacted Home Depot’s business.

If you’re thinking of cooking beer can chicken during Memorial Day weekend, food processing giant Perdue has a beer for you. They partnered with Torch & Crown Brewing Company to make Beer Can Chicken Beer. It’s a beer formulated to compliment chicken flavors with Citra hops and classic grilled chicken seasonings like rosemary, thyme, and pink peppercorn. Of course, you can also drink it.

While Camp Chef has successfully added more smoke to their Woodwind Pro pellet grill with the built-in Smoker Box, they have another patent for more smoke. It’s for a pellet grill with a built-in pellet smoke tube. The smoke tube sits next to the fire pot and has an ignitor for ease of use.

Middleby announced this week some changes in their officer ranks. Their Chief Risk and Administration Officer is retiring after nearly 25 years with the company. They also announced some promotions with a new Chief Accounting Officer and a Chief Development Officer.

Solo Stove announced a collaboration this week with Disney on the Pixar film that will be out this summer, Elemental. They released a limited edition Mesa tabletop fire pit two pack to go along with the fire focused film.

Finally, smokeless fire pit company Breeo has continued to add to their accessory portfolio. They released a lid for their Y Series fire pit this week. What sets it apart from others on the market is it has two cam locks to keep it in place during transportation.
