The Good Charcoal is a mission driven charcoal company that makes charcoal from invasive acacia in Namibia. They also focus on doing good for local communities through providing BBQ meals to areas with food instability.
They first came out with a lump charcoal product that we’ve used and liked. It burns hot and clean, with a mild smoke flavor similar to oak.
While they’ve been expanding their distribution to more retailers, they also launched a briquette product last year. Their Super Briquettes were released in March and were sold exclusively at Lowe’s in 15.4 lb bags retailing from $15.99. They’re an all natural briquettes, made from just acacia, corn starch (binder), and water.
This year, they’ve continued to expand distribution of Super Briquettes by adding 6 lb bags at Walmart. They’re currently selling the briquettes at select locations in Florida.
We checked what stores have them, and they’re in the Tampa area and stretching east into Orlando. Stores in northern or southern Florida don’t carry them at the time of writing.
Often retailers release new products at certain locations to test them, before adding the product to additional stores. Florida offers a good opportunity to test grilling products this time of year because we’re still ahead of grilling season for more northern states.
