MAK Grills Permanently Closes After 16 Years Making Pellet Grills

MAK Grills came onto the grilling scene 16 years ago offering American made grills with a focus on engineering and quality. Based in Oregon, they made it a point that their grills weren’t just assembled in the USA, the components were also sourced here.

Unfortunately, MAK Grills has announced on social media that it’s time to hang it up. Below is the text from their post.

For the past 16 years, it has been an absolute honor to build and share our grills with you. It is with Incredibly heavy hearts that we must announce the closure of MAK Grills.
This was not an easy decision, and it is a reality that we are deeply sad to face as a family. From the early days of designing and fabricating our vision right here in Dallas, to seeing our grills become a part of your backyard barbecues across the country, this has been a journey we will forever cherish.

To our incredible employees: Thank you. Your dedication, craftsmanship, and hard work were the true steel behind everything we produced. We could not have reached the milestones we did without your hands and your commitment.
To our local community and our customers: Thank you for believing in a local, family-owned operation. You didn’t just buy a grill; you welcomed us into your homes, your holidays, and your weekend cookouts. We are profoundly grateful for your unwavering support, your feedback, and your loyalty over the last decade and a half.

While our shop doors are closing, it brings us comfort to know that the memories made and the meals shared over a MAK Grill will continue on.

With our deepest gratitude,
The MAK Grills Family

MAK Grills made some unique products that stood out in the market. Their grills had a proprietary controller, an igniter rated for 90,000 cycle, and copious amounts 304 stainless steel. They engineered their grills to get hotter than other pellet grills and they with some unique features.

The MAK Grills flagship was the Three-Star General that had two separate cook chambers and fire pots. Not only did this give more space, but it gave better autonomy for cooking.

It’s sad to see a unique small business, and another grill option, leave the category. Their statement didn’t give a reason for the closure, but I would imagine the current consumer environment in outdoor cooking couldn’t have helped.

Making it sixteen years is a solid achievement for any business, especially one that’s based in manufacturing. While I’m sad to see them go, it’s amazing what they built in that time.
