Wireless temperature probes have become increasingly popular over the past few years. Different companies were at the cutting edge with the technology, but I’d credit Traeger with their MEATER brand for really commercializing the technology.
From when MEATER popularized wireless probes, many different companies have entered the space from grill brands to temperature focused companies like ThermoWorks. There’s no shortage of players, which has actually been to the detriment of MEATER.
Surpisingly though, Weber does not currently sell their own Weber branded wireless temperature probe. They have a great integrated accesory and technology platform with Weber Works and Weber Connect, but no wireless probes.
If a recently refreshed patent is any indication though, that could change in the near future. They’ve had patents on wireless probes dating back to May of 2024, but they filed an updated version that was just published this month.
It appears similar to other probes in the space with multiple sensors on the end of the probe that goes in the meat, and an ambient probe in the handle. It also mentions using a range extender to transmit the signal to a home network and other devices like a display or a wearable.

There likely would be other innovation on the programming and connectivity side of the product that’s not disclosed in the patent. It would be nice if it natively connected with the display on Weber’s grills like their Smoque or even the Summit.
With the patent filed, I think it’s likely that we’ll see a Weber branded wireless probe as early as next spring. It will fit in well with their other accessories and be an added revenue stream apart from grills.
