Ace Retail Group may not be a household name, but their various brands in the Ace Hardware franchise system are. They own and operate 260 Ace Hardware stores across 18 states under brands like Westlake Ace Hardware, Great Lakes Ace, and Outer Banks Ace.

They’ve named Robert Massengill as President after twenty years at the company. He’ll lead enterprise-wide strategy, operations, and growth across Ace Retail Group’s multi-state retail hardware platform.

Prior to being named President, he was senior vice president of business development and general counsel for the company. In that function he oversaw new store development, enterprise expansion, commercial business, legal strategy and compliance.

Like other large Ace holding companies, Ace Retail Group has been actively expanding their footprint and store count. This spring they opened four new locations in four states.

We’ll grow intentionally, adding stores where we can make a real local impact, reinvesting in existing locations to create modern, relevant and engaging shopping experiences, and sharpening our focus on speed so we can get the right products to customers faster. The strategy is sound, but it’s our people who will bring it to life. We have some of the best in the business, and that’s our greatest competitive advantage.
