Conair Recalls 1.7 Million Cuisinart Metal Grill Brushes, the Latest Company to Recall Brushes

Conair, the owner of the Cuisinart, has joined in the growing number of recalls for grill brushes with metal wire bristles. Weber previously launched a voluntary recall for 3.2 million brushes followed by Nexgrill that voluntarily recalled 10.2 million brushes.

The recall for Cuisinart branded brushes totals 1.7 million units sold at Burlington, TJ Maxx and Ross stores and online including Amazon.com and Cuisinart.com. The brushes were sold between June 2009 through March 2026 for $8 to $20.

The reason for the recall is the same as the other brands, wire bristles can fall off, attach to food, then be eaten accidentally. Conair is aware of at least 54 reports and reviews where small wire bristles detached from the grill brushes. Three of those reports are from consumers who swallowed metal bristles and sought medical treatment to remove the bristles from their digestive tract or throat.

There are quite a few different models that are impacted by the recall. Pictures of them can be found at the website setup to process recall claims.

The remedy that Conair is offering is a cash refund of the brush, or a coupon for 20% over the cash value to be used at cuisinart.com. To file a claim, consumers have to provide photographic proof of the brush and a handwritten Destruction Code that provided during the registration process. Consumers are asked to immediately stop using any impacted brushes.

The Cuisinart brush recall follows multiple lawsuits that have been filed against Weber and Nexgrill regarding their recalled brushes. There also was a news story that was picked up nationally last month about a teen in Minnesota that required medical attention after he swallowed a metal grill brush that was in a burger.

With more and more recalls for metal wire grill brushes, this isn’t an issue that’s going away. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more brands follow suit in the near future.
