Weber’s Global Controller and Chief Accounting Officer to Retire

There’s a changing of the guard for the top accounting role at Weber. Marla Kilpatrick, the current Global Controller and Chief Accounting Officer has notified that grill maker that she intends to retire early in 2023. According to her LinkedIn, January 2023 will mark her 10th anniversary with Weber.

In light of Ms. Kilpatrick’s retirement, Michael Bayer will be will assume the role of Global Controller and Chief Accounting officer. While he will assume the Global Controller role effective June 8th, 2022, there will be a transition period for the Chief Accounting Officer position. Bayer’s compensation hasn’t been finalized yet.

According to the SEC filing, Mr. Bayer served as Senior Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer of Gogo Inc. from 2015 until 2021. From 2013 to 2015, Mr. Bayer served as Vice President and Corporate Controller at JMC Steel Group, Inc. Prior to that, he worked in various accounting and financial reporting roles, including as Assistant Controller and Controller of Motorola Mobility, Inc. from 2010 to 2013 and as Director of Accounting at Exelon Corporation from 2004 to 2009. Mr. Bayer received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Miami University.

Mr. Bayer steps into a company that is the largest player in the grill space, yet has had some disappointing quarters since going public last year.
