Pit Boss makes a ton of grills, which is great for options, but at the same time it can be confusing for consumers (at least they have a website, right Dyna-Glo). We put together a buyers guide for Pit Boss grills and we’re starting with their portable pellet grill line-up.

When you go to the Pit Boss website and filter by “Portables”, 9 different portable pellet grills come up. You’ll notice that full-size smokers come up like the Pit Boss Navigator 1150 that weighs 183 lbs. Despite having 4 wheels, that’s not exactly portable unless you routinely compete in the World’s Strongest Man competitions. We’re defining a portable pellet grill is a grill that you can easily take with you in your vehicle, so that get us down to 5 grills. Below is the breakdown of the various models.

Tabletop Pellet Grills

Tabletop pellet grills are simply portable grills that don’t have wheels. You pick them up an carry them wherever you want to use them. Pit Boss offers two of those, the Mahogany 150PPS and the Pro Series II Portable 150. From what we can tell, these grills are the exact same. The only difference is the Pro Series II is a Lowe’s exclusive, so you have to buy it from them. They both have the following features and specs.

  • Retail price of $299
  • 256 square inches of cooking surface
  • 5 lb pellet hopper capacity
  • Porcelain-coated steel cooking grates
  • Dial style control with an LED readout
  • Temperature range from 180 degrees F to 500 degrees F
  • Latch-locking lid
  • Pit Boss Mahogany 150PPS Tabletop Wood Pellet Grill
  • Pit Boss Pro Series II Portable 150 Wood Pellet Grill

Portable Pellet Grills on Carts

If you’re going somewhere that can be accessible with a push cart or you just don’t want to lug around a pellet grill, these are great options. Pit Boss has 3 different portable pellet grills that are on collapsible carts, the Sportsman Portable Wood Pellet Grill, the Mahogany 260 and the Portable Copper Top. The only difference that we can see between these grills is the color of the lid, wheels and controls. Also, the Portable Copper Top is a Walmart exclusive and was cheaper than the other 2 grills through Walmart. We don’t know if the price was outdated though because it also shows at out of stock. If you like any of these, just shop on price and color knowing the specs are all the same. Below are the features and specs.

  • Check the links in the paragraph above for price, as the price and availability is changing
  • 387 square inches of cooking surface
  • 19 lb pellet hopper capacity
  • One included meat probe
  • Folding legs on the cart for portability
  • Dial style control with an LED readout
  • Temperature range from 180 degrees F to 500 degrees F
  • Latch-locking lid
  • Pit Boss Sportsman Portable Wood Pellet Grill
  • Pit Boss Mahogany 260 Portable Wood Pellet Grill
  • Pit Boss Portable Copper Top Wood Pellet Grill
