Outdoor Brands, LLC, the parent company of Pit Boss, Charbroil, and Oklahoma Joe’s, has some major growth initiatives planned this grilling season. They’re showing their brands to more people through a new retail partnership.
Costco Roadshows
Costco Roadshows were instrumental in Traeger’s growth story. They’re a pop-up inside a Costco store with grills and grilling products on display, and a representative from the brand to educate people about the grills. The education part is key because, while we all know about pellet grills, consumers are still learning.
Traeger did these for many years but announced last fall that they are stopping that program. It goes along with other initiatives they’re undertaking like stopping their DTC business.
To fill that grilling void at Costco, Outdoor Brands, LLC is stepping in. They are rolling out a multi-brand Costco Roadshow program, with 150 to 200 events planned for 2026.
There will be demonstrations and consumer engagement for both the Charbroil and Pit Boss brands. The grills that will be featured are the Pit Boss Navigator and the Charbroil Pro Series.
The Navigator is one of the premiere grills for Pit Boss with a touchscreen controller, WiFi, and other goodies. I’ve cooked quite a bit on the Charbroil Pro Series, and I’m a fan of its versatility and quick heating.
It’s a great time to start doing Costco Roadshows. As we’ve heard from Clorox, more consumers are shopping at clubs as they’re seeking value in the face of economic headwinds.
The data from Costco supports that consumer growth too. They just reported their fiscal Q2 earnings last week and saw growth in all their key metrics. Comparable sales grew by 5.9% in the US with 82.1 million paid members, up 4.8% from the same quarter last year.
