Just in time for grilling season Pit Boss made a big improvement to their popular Sportsman line of pellet grills. They’ve updated them with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. This allows you to monitor and control your cooks with your phone from anywhere.
Even though it’s a big step forward for the Sportsman line, it doesn’t carry a big price tag. Compared to the non-connected models, adding WiFi and Bluetooth only adds $50 to the price of the grill.
They’ve added the connected controlled to four different grills. They range in size from 849 square inches, which is already pretty large, to a grill with a massive 1,598 square inches of cooking area. The vertical pellet grill in the Sportsman line also received the upgrade
Sportsman Models
For the Sportsman models that aren’t vertical, they all feature a temperature range of 180°F – 500°F and have a lever to access the direct flame broiler. They also have two temperature probe ports on the controller. The 1600 comes with two meat probes, while the other two models come with one.
The 5-Series is their vertical smoker model that is made for cooking lots of meat low and slow. It has a temperature range of 130°F – 420°F, has 3 temperature probe ports and includes on probe. It has an enormous 60 lb pellet hopper for smoking for days.
