Masterbuilt Releases the 710 WiFi Digital Electric Smoker

While Masterbuilt has some new gravity series smokers this year, they’ve also updated their vertical smoker. Dubbed the 710 WiFi Digital Electric Smoker, the new cabinet smoker gives a connected smoking experience through the Masterbuilt app.

Despite the upgrades from the previous model, the new smoker is reasonably priced at $299.99 (check price). It has a roomy design, which is what vertical smokers are great for. With the model name of 710, you’d expect it to have 710 square inches of smoking area.

You’d be wrong though, it has 711 square inches. If I were Masterbuilt, I’d call it the 711 and say it was open for smoking all day and night. Either that, or just dent a cooking grate a little to make it one square inch smaller.

Features and Specs

  • Retail price of $299.99 (check price)
  • Temperature range of 100˚F to 275˚F
  • Insulated body for heat retention
  • Removeable water pan included to add moisture and catch drippings
  • Removeable grease tray for easy cleaning
  • Adjustable air damper to control smoke levels
  • Includes 1 meat probe, but can handle up to 4 on the controller

Side Loading Wood Chips

Unique to the Marstebuilt smoker is you load wood chips for smoking through the side of the unit. This is done through a locking holder for the wood chips that has a handle on it. It enables you to reload the chips without having to open the cabinet and let out all the heat and smoke.

Connected Controller

The controller on the smoker is the highlight of new product. It’s very similar to the controller on the Masterbuilt Gravity Series. It has WiFi connectivity, so you can control and monitor your cook with the Masterbuilt app.

The only real downside with the controller, is it is pretty low quality. It gets the job done though and it’s reflective of the price of the smoker.
