Ooni brought pizza cooking indoors with the Volt 12 when they released it a little over two years ago. Ooni was known for creating the market in compact outdoor pizza ovens, and the Volt 12 was their first electric oven.
The Volt 12 was an innovative oven when it was released. It had the capabilities of their wood or gas ovens, and was priced cheaper than some other companies that had electric ovens.
Since then, competitors have been closing the gap on electric pizza ovens, but Ooni is back to reset the bar with their new Volt 2 electric pizza oven. It’s a very versatile oven that’s also priced to make its way on your counter.

Huge Temperature Range
My favorite feature with the Volt 2 is its giant temperature range. Other electric pizza ovens on the market can get really hot, but aren’t able to function at lower temps as an oven.
The Volt 2 can get down to the double digits for proofing bread or defrosting. That really opens up what it can do with it. Versatility is key when you’re giving up valuable counter space.
Versatility
Beyond the temperature range, the Volt 2 offers versatility in other ways. To use it more like an oven, you can put a sheet pan and a wire rack in it. For when things are little greasier or smokier, it also has a built-in smoke and grease filtration system.
Price
It’s a big deal that the Volt 2 is being released at $699. The Volt 12 was priced at $899, and since it was released, some cheaper competitors have come on the market.
Ooni did a good job responding by building a better oven at a lower price. It’s not too often that new products come out that are cheaper and better.
Better than the Volt 12
I’ve already mentioned a few ways that the new Volt 2 is better than the Volt 12, but it’s better in even more ways. Just looking at the oven it has much cleaner styling to it. I feel like Ooni’s products were traditionally designed to be more function over form, but that’s changed since they released a beautiful looking mixer.
With the better look, also comes some better function. The viewing window on the Volt 2 is noticeably bigger, while the unit overall is more compact without sacrificing pizza cooking space.
The digital display, buttons and knob are also much better looking, and offer more function than the Volt 12. The new oven isn’t just an iteration, it’s a transformation.
