There are quite a few different smokeless fire pit options on the market today, but the original is Breeo. They started the genre and put in the groundwork to teach people about how a smokeless fire pit works.
They’ve since expanded to line-up to match a variety of sizes and styles. They sent me an X24 fire pit made from Corten steel to see what makes their fire pits different. The X24 is the most popular fire pit they offer because it’s sized well for an average backyard.

Summary
The Breeo X Series is a perfect fire pit for the backyard. Beyond it’s good looks, it’s also more rugged than other smokeless fire pits. I found it a little smokier at times than competitors, but smokeless is achievable with enough kiln dried wood. It’s a great fire pit for any backyard.

American Made Quality
The fire pits are hand crafted in Pennsylvania, so you know you’re getting a quality product. They use thick steel that’s much thicker than other smokeless fire pits on the market.
This is definitely a product that will last a long time. It’s priced a little higher than some of the other fire pits, but it’s the kind of thing where you only have to buy it once.

The fire pit comes fully assembled, so all you have to do is take it out of the box and it’s ready to go. Unpacking it, you can see the high quality of the fire pit, and feel the heft from all the steel.
The X Series comes in Corten steel or stainless steel. Both look great, but I was more drawn to the Corten steel because I felt that it was more unique than all the polished steel fire pits out there.

For those not familiar, Corten is a durable steel that develops a patina over time. I’ve had this fire pit for almost a year and a half, and you can see how the patina has developed through the Michigan weather.
Smokeless Fire Pit
A fire pit is smokeless by having a more complete combustion to the fire. That mean that there’s enough oxygen for the fire.
Bree fire pits are fed oxygen in two different ways. One is through the venting in the bottom of the fire pit and the other is through interior vents in the top.

The fire pit has an inner wall and an outer wall. What’s unique about the top vents, is between the two walls air is warmed up and fed back through the top. This creates a cool looking secondary burn.
I found it to be a little bit harder to get a smokeless fire on the Breeo than some of the competitors. I think some of that though is you just need to feed the fire a little more.

Another key to a smokeless fire pit is to use kiln dried wood. When there’s moisture in your wood, it’s going to smoke.
One thing to beware of is if you’re planning on using this on your grass, or on anything that can burn, get the Base accessory. It’s a stand that the fire pit sits on to keep the ground cooler. Otherwise, it’ll burn whatever is underneath it.
Fire Poker
It seems like such a minor accessory, but I wanted to give a special shout out to Breeo’s fire poker. That thing has the perfect weight to it, it has a hook at the end to move logs around, and it’s a a solid piece of metal. It’s my favorite poker, and if there were a zombie invasion, it might be a tool in my arsenal for the resistance.

Cleaning
When the fire is done and your left with just ash, it’s time to clean out the fire pit. It’s key to keep the ash level down to make sure air can get through the bottom vents. I like that the fire pit has a really solid, one-piece design, but a downside of that is that cleaning has to be done with a little shovel.

Durability
I keep mentioning quality and durability with the X-Series, but I have to point it out again for another reason. The durability of it isn’t just nice for it to last a long time, but for how you can use it.
I use my fire pit not only for fun bonfires, but also for things like burning brush that I clean on my property, or sticks fall, and things like that. With some of the other smokeless fire pits I’m more afraid to damage them. That’s not the case with the Breeo, I’m completely comfortable throwing anything in it.
I also keep it outside year round with no cover. It handles all the snow and rain like a champ, I never feel guilty about it.
Cooking
The Breeo is the best on the market for cooking. They sell everything you could need to prepare amazing meals outside. They have a grill system that you can raise, lower and rotate to adjust heat.

They have a really nice pizza oven, a rotisserie, a kettle holder, a griddle. Any way that you want to cook, they have a high quality accessory to let you do it. If you’re really into open fire cooking, Breeo also sells a grill that’s built like a tank.
