BBQ-AID Acquires Knapp Kitchen, Makers of Cast Iron and Griddle Cleaning Tools

Grill accessory company BBQ-AID has expanded their portfolio by acquiring Knapp Kitchen. The acquisition expands their line of cleaning products.

Knapp Kitchen is the company behind chainmail scrubbers that can be used on a variety of cooking products. They can clean grill grates, griddles, and cookware, to name a few.

Knapp Kitchen presents an incredible opportunity for the BBQ-AID portfolio and our customers as we work towards rapid grill accessory innovation in the United States. Knapp started in 2011 with an incredibly effective product that solves a real problem. By combining Knapp’s patented technology with BBQ-AID’s existing success, we have an opportunity to build a differentiated cleaning platform spanning grills, griddles, cast iron and cookware.

The acquisition is part of BBQ-AID’s strategy to build a more complete grill product portfolio. This acquisition follows on for FlavrQ, a product for gas grills that is designed to give more traditional charcoal flavor. It does this with a mesh that goes over your flavor bars, that you then pour some charcoal chips on.

Exceptionally high quality products are our standard. We find products that meaningfully improve the experience of cooking outdoors. FlavrQ brings an entirely new approach to creating flavor on a gas grill. Knapp Kitchen brings an incredibly effective approach to cleaning cast iron and cookware. They both fit naturally with where BBQ-AID is going.

It’s a good time to invest in bristle-less grill cleaning products. Metal grill brush recalls and lawsuits have dominated the headlines, leaving consumers looking for alternative cleaning methods.

Knapp’s chainmail scrubber is made from stainless steel, so it’s durable, and can clean tough surfaces. It also promises to clean cast iron without stripping the seasoning that you worked so hard for.
