Academy Sports + Outdoors has announced the appointment of Sumit Anand to the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer. He joined the company this month and oversees all enterprise technology operations including cybersecurity, IT infrastructure and operations, and IT shared services.

It’s an expansive role that covers Academy’s corporate, distribution services, and retail initiatives. Not only do all three areas have diverse challenges, Academy is also rapidly expanding, which adds to the complexity.

Academy has been expanding their store count and geographic footprint. They started off a just servicing Texas and the Southeast, but now they stretch up into Ohio. They plan to open 20-25 additional stores in 2025.

Prior to Academy, Sumit Anand held a variety of executive positions for At Home, the Dallas-based home goods retailer. His roles included Chief Information Officer and Head of Strategy.
