Large Canadian hardware retailer, Rona, has announced some changes in the executive ranks. They have appointed Alain Ménard as President and Chief Executive Officer.
I am honoured to lead RONA and build on our teams’ achievements. Together with the leadership team, I will focus on advancing our strategy, supporting our teams, serving our customers and strengthening our corporate stores and affiliated dealer network.
Alain Ménard, Incoming President and CEO of RONA
He will succeed J.P. Towner, who will move to the role of Senior Advisor with Sycamore Partners, the investment firm that owns RONA. In that role he’ll also serve on RONA’s Board of Directors to help continue advancing their strategy.
The transition is set to occur on October 1, 2026. J.P. and Alain will work together to ensure a smooth transition in leadership.
Alain has been with RONA since January 2024 as Senior Vice-President, RONA Affiliated Dealers. Prior to joining RONA, he was with the large grocer Sobeys for almost 20 years.
Syncamore Partners bought Lowe’s Canadian stores for $400 million at the end of 2022 and branded them under the RONA name. Today, they sit at around 425 corporate and affiliate stores. They recently acquired some affiliate locations to invest in growth.
