Yeti is engrained in outdoor lifestyle with their popular coolers that people swear by. The strength of their brand allows them to expand into other adjacent categories.

Logically, that includes outdoor cooking. They started to move that way when they released cast iron cookware, and eventually acquired a cast iron cookware brand.

Now they’re moving full-speed ahead with the release of a new fire pit and a grill kit for the fire pit. They aren’t following what other companies are doing though, and moved in a little bit of a different direction with their fire pit.

Is it an expensive fire pit and grill kit by conventional standards? Absolutely. Will people buy it up? Also, absolutely.

The fire pit checks in at $1,000 (check price), and the grill kit is another $500 (check price). They’re at least initially a limited release, so get them before they’re gone.

Features and Specs

  • Fire pit built from Corten steel and the grill is built from case-hardened carbon steel
  • The fire pit burn area is 26 inches in diameter
  • It comes with a lid and a fire iron
  • Weighs 70 lbs, so you’re not moving it too much
  • The fire pit with the lid is 12.5 inches high

Not a Smokeless Fire Pit

It seems like all fire pits that have been released over the past five years have been of the smokeless variety. They have extra ventilation that creates a more complete burn, thereby yielding less smoke.

Yeti’s new fire pit isn’t. It’s a traditional fire pit with a solid bottom. It also is much more shallow that other fire the need the depth to create the smokeless effect.

While the Yeti fire pit will be smokier a benefit is it will create more lateral heat. That’s a problem that smokeless fire pit companies have been trying to solve. Smokeless fire pits have the majority of the heat go straight up, so you don’t feel it as much sitting around it.

Built to Last

The Yeti fire pit is made from Corten steel which is a strong material that gets stronger when it develops a patina. That type of steel is often used for building materials and outdoor sculptures. The finish may not be for everyone, but I like how it looks once it’s weathered.

Fire Pit Grill

The Fire Pit Grill Kit comes with multiple accessories to help you cook on the fire pit. There’s a cooking grate that spans the width of the fire pit and a post that swivels with another cooking grate on it.

That’s a good setup for cooking because it gives you multiple zones to play with. For the grate on the post, you can really control the heat based on it’s proximity to the fire.
