Ace Hardware Opens its 100th New Store of 2025, on Pace for 175

On the heels of the Ace Hardware Fall Convention, Ace has announced a milestone in store openings this year. They have opened their 100th store and are on pace to open 175 stores in 2025.

They’ve opened an impressive 930 new stores over the past five years. All the new store growth is one of the reasons that Ace is the largest hardware co-operative.

This milestone reflects the continued strength of our local ownership model, our commitment to service, and the trust our customers place in Ace. Even in a world of rapid change, we believe that helpfulness, human connection and a commitment to community will always be at the center of enduring retail success.

Andy Enright, Senior Vice President, Retail Strategy and Operations, Ace Hardware

Ace Hardware’s store growth is a combination of existing retailers opening additional locations, competitor stores converting to the brand, and new entrepreneurs joining the co-op. Their total store count is at 5,200 stores across all 50 U.S. states and in over 60 countries.

With consolidation happening in the hardware space, the Ace brand has been popular with hardware holding companies. A good example is Aubuchon, a family owned hardware chain that grows through acquisition. They converted to Ace in 2023 and continue to buy Ace locations.

A key driver of Ace’s ability to grow has been their ability to position themselves as a destination for grills. Their cornerstone brands are Traeger, Weber, Big Green Egg and Blackstone, but they’ve added unique brands like recteq. Weber is even strengthening its relationship with Ace, announcing earlier this year that it will end its partnerships with convenience hardware distributors outside of Ace Hardware in 2026.
