European brand Sonic is know for their tools and tool storage. They released an April Fool’s joke about expanding into modular outdoor kitchens complete a Kamado grill.
After the success of last year’s PZA toolbox debut, we knew we had to grill up a unique offering to satisfy the needs of our kitchen loving customers. Applying the Sonic Foam System to kitchen tool organization will be a game changer for those hosting large summer BBQs.

There’s some overlap between garage storage and outdoor kitchens in terms of materials that are used and who buys them. Usually, I’ve seen outdoor kitchen cabinet brands branch out into garage storage, but they could totally go the other way.
The modular outdoor kitchen was said to be developed with Dutch TV BBQ chef, Ralph de Kok. He had a great video on his Instagram showing all the features of the fake new products.
Sonic’s tool storage is probably most know for their foam system. It’s foam with cutouts for different tools to keep them organized. They brought that system to their outdoor kitchen with cutouts for knives and different barbecue tools.
The Modular Kitchen System brings a level of structure and control that fits perfectly with the way I approach outdoor cooking. Everything is organized, everything is within reach. It allows you to stay focused on the process and get the most out of every cook.

Even though the outdoor kitchen literally looks like they converted garage cabinets, that’s not a bad thing. It’s just a more industrial aesthetic that you usually see with outdoor kitchens. I could totally see an outdoor kitchen looking like this.
The main feature of the outdoor kitchen is Sonic’s Kamado style grill. They took a traditional ceramic Kamado with a wood handle and burned the Sonic name into it to complete the aesthetic.
Sonic also claimed to design a grilling app that has recipes and step-by-step instructions. That would be pretty on-par with every other grill company out there.
Of all the grill April Fool’s joke’s out there, this one got me at first. It’s a genuinely interesting idea, and one Sonic could easily bring to market. With the overlap on people that like to grill and use tools, they’d probably sell a bunch of them.
