It can be a big endeavor to build an outdoor kitchen from scratch. The first step in that process is designing the layout, which can be time consuming with quite a few decisions to be made.
A quicker way to get from the idea for an outdoor kitchen to having one installed is by going with an pre-designed kitchen island. WeatherStrong just released a new line of outdoor kitchen islands that still have plenty of personalization options while taking the work out of the design process. They have a team of designers after all, so they know what works for a useable outdoor kitchen setup.
All the cabinets for their islands are built in their factory in Florida. They come with finishes like you’d find on indoor kitchens but they are built with materials to withstand the elements. They test them in Florida, and if they can handle the sun, heat, humidity, and rain in Florida, they’ll last anywhere.
Designs
The island designs range from 50″ in length to 126″ in length to accommodate any size space. They also have different grill and appliance options depending on the customers’ needs.
You can get everything from an island with only cabinets and countertop to an island with a stainless steel grill, a built-in side burner, and a refrigerator. Below are the different configurations.
- 50″ Surf – Includes a 32″ Jupiter grill and serves as an anchor for an outdoor living area
- 68″ Horizon – Takes the Surf and adds an extra cabinet for some storage and more counterspace
- 74″ Lagoon – Perfect for prep and storage when you don’t need a grill or already have one
- 86″ Sandbar – A little bigger than the Horizon and adds a built-in side burner for additional cooking space
- 90″ Bayside – This is a good setup for entertaining because it has a grill and adds a refrigerator to the mix
- 126″ Breakwater – The ultimate island setup with storage, a Jupiter grill, side burner, and a Jupiter refrigerator
With islands from other companies, your often stuck with one style, or at most, a couple. The WeatherStrong islands have two door style options and six finish options.

There are also three different cabinet selection options to meet different storage needs. The grills come with the ability to run off natural gas or propane. For people looking for an easier install that don’t have a gas line, WeatherStrong offers a nice propane pull-out cabinet.
The islands are priced at 50% off the build and range from $4,896.50 for the Lagoon to $12,283.50 for the Breakwater. It would be hard to pass up the Breakwater because, even though it’s the most expensive, it’s a good value for all that it offers.
Outdoor Kitchen Options
With WeatherStrong’s new islands, they now have one of the most complete product line-ups in the outdoor kitchen space. They product’s give lots of options for dealers, builders, contractors, and consumers.
They have teams of people to support ground-up builds, they have a flat-pack line for quick turnaround and a lower cost, and now in the middle they have pre-designed islands. No matter the customer or the need, they can do it.
